GASTOP

01. GREATLY IMPROVES SAFETY

Limits accidental gas leaks using a ¼” pure gum rubber seal.

02. YELLOW COLOUR

Indicates “Caution Natural Gas”, as per gas utilization codes.

03. JET PROTECTION

Prevents contamination of nozzles by covering the tip of the nozzle to prevent entry of water, chemicals or other foreign materials.

04. PREVENTS VANDALISM

Prevents contamination of nozzles by covering the tip of the nozzle to prevent entry of water, chemicals or other foreign materials.

05. COST SAVINGS

Prevents contamination of nozzles by covering the tip of the nozzle to prevent entry of water, chemicals or other foreign materials.

06. REDUCES MAINTENANCE COSTS

Frees maintenance staff for other important duties.

07. LOCKING MECHANISM

Provides supervisory control over the use of jets. A special key unlocks the gas jet when required for use.

About.

Gastop is a product designed in Canada by a H.V.A.C. technician with 25 years experience in the H.V.A.C. industry.

Gastop was created to prevent vandalism to gas valves, by students, in the science classroom and laboratory. Gum, glue, paper and other material is often pushed into the gas valve nozzles rendering the valves inoperable which results in expensive repairs.

Gastop caps can also limit the leakage of natural gas into the laboratory or science classroom because of its pure gum rubber seal. Gastop has been tested rigorously by international testing laboratories & was found to hold pressure after 4000 cycles of installation & removal.

HOW TO.

INSTALL GASTOP CAP ON NOZZLE

  1. Very briefly, turn the valve to the open position and slide the steel loop of the Gastop cap over the valve assembly. Once the loop clears the valve handle, immediately close the valve to prevent gas leaks.
  2. Tighten the loop around the main neck of valve assembly (not the neck of the handle).
  3. Crimp the aluminium sleeve (swage) on the loop to prevent loosening of steel loop.
  4.  The manual shut off valve should be closed prior to pushing the Gastop cap on to the valve tip. The valve should always remain closed when the Gastop cap is in-place.
  5. Slide the Gastop cap over the nozzle tip and push it on until you hear three clicks. This indicates that the locking springs are engaged.

HOW TO.

REMOVE GASTOP CAP FROM NOZZLE

The first 10 to 15 removals may require extra pressure but this will ease as the spring relaxes.

  1. Ensure the manual shut off valve is closed before removing the Gastop cap.
  2. Insert special key into slot (indicated by arrow) on Gastop cap, until the key stops (approximately 3/8”).
  3. Apply light inward pressure to the smaller end of Gastop cap to release tension on internal springs and continue to push key in further to disengage the first spring. The key will move in another 3/8” more and stop.
  4. Reapply light inward pressure and slide the key in further until the second spring is disengaged and now remove the Gastop cap.

FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

01. Why is the safety cap yellow in colour?

ANSWER: Yellow is the gas code colour for natural gas.

02. What valve manufactures will Gastop fit?

ANSWER: There are currently two (2) models available which will fit the following valves: 1. Delta Cambridge Brass (Delta Teck)  2. Chicago Faucet.  Please specify which model when ordering.

03. What materials are used in the construction of the safety cap?

ANSWER: The body is fabricated of flame retardant A.B.S plastic. The springs are plated spring steel. The seal is pure gum rubber.  A 1/16″ stainless steel cable is used to secure the cap to the gas valve.

04. What is the life expectancy of the safety cap?

ANSWER: During testing by an independent testing laboratory it was found that under normal conditions 10 years of use may be possible.

05. Who did the testing?

ANSWER: International testing laboratories in Canada & the USA.

06. How does the cap lock on to the valve?

ANSWER: 2 internal springs lock on to the flutes on the valve nozzle. A special key is used to unlock the cap allowing it to be removed.

07. Does the safety cap need maintenance?

ANSWER: No maintenance is required. A yearly leak check should be done by qualified personnel to ensure no leak have developed. If leaks are detected, Gastop should be replaced.

08. How does the cap limit leaks?

ANSWER: A gum rubber seal is manufactured into the inside end of the cap providing a positive seal.

09. Is the safety cap warrantied?

ANSWER: Gastop is warrantied for a period of 12 months against defects in materials & manufacturing, under normal use, on installations on approved gas valves. Warranties are replacement only, upon return of defective valve caps.
